Bringing Dublin’s Stories to Life – One Tour at a Time with Mark

Born and raised in this vibrant city, Dublin has always been home, and I can’t imagine living anywhere else. Every street and corner has its own story, and there’s always something new to discover, no matter how well you think you know it.
I’ve been a tour guide since 2015, and it’s a role I’m incredibly passionate about. Meeting people from all over the world and sharing Dublin’s rich history and culture is a joy. Over the years, I’ve led tours on a wide range of topics, from rock music to ghost stories and general history. What makes Dublin so special is the depth of its stories—you could spend hours exploring just one theme.
My work combines many of my skills and interests. With a background in journalism, I love researching and creating engaging scripts. My experience in acting and stand-up comedy has honed my public speaking, helping me bring the city’s stories to life in an entertaining and memorable way.
Outside of guiding, I’ve worn many hats, including TV presenter, children’s entertainer, and event host. When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me at a concert, adding to my record collection, or enjoying a good book. I also perform improv comedy with my troupe, Laughter Lines, right here in Dublin.

Mark did an excellent job showing us around Dublin and telling us about its history. He was very knowledgeable with fun stories and could readily answer our many questions about Irish history, politics and culture. We have enjoyed listening to the Irish music he recommended! Our son may be visiting Dublin this fall and will have him do the same tour.

Great tour! First time to visit Dublin and we decided to walk the city to see as much as possible. Our guide, Mark, was perfect! Great history, but information, great delivery! We covered over 6 miles and the tour was one of the highlights of our trip.

We did not know much about Dublin so we took this tour. Our guide was Mark Hanratty. He was so knowledgeable about Dublin that we felt like we had an understanding of Dublin by the time the tour was over. Would recommend for any first timers to the city.

I would 100% do this again. Mark our tour guide was so great, we couldn’t stop talking for 4 hours straight, it was so great learning about Irish Culture. I loved the pubs and it was so great. 10/10 experience. The only thing I would say though, it is definitely more fun with a big group of people!

Mark was our tour guide and did an amazing job showing us around Dublin and stopping at some really cool pubs along the way. We had such a great time talking to Mark, he was personable, funny and had lots of information to share with us. It was a highlight of our trip. I recommend it for anyone that wants a relaxing way to see some sights and stop by some pubs.
