Relax and Explore: 4 Days in Dublin Itinerary

Published: September 3, 2024

Looking to soak in Dublin’s charm at your own pace? Our relaxed itinerary is like a perfectly brewed pint—rich, layered, and best-savoured slowly. Whether you’re an explorer at heart or love to wander, this guide promises a tapestry of experiences that will make your visit memorable.

This itinerary is designed to fit only some important visits/attractions. It suggests a slow, comfortable time in Dublin with enough variety to tick as many boxes as possible without feeling like you’re “working to be a good tourist.” Aiming for two attractions daily will make you feel like you’re doing Dublin justice and not missing out. Aiming for three might make you feel more satisfied but also make you feel more tired.

Let’s explore Dublin together, one leisurely day at a time.

Day 1: Classic Dublin Delights

Start your journey at Kilkenny Cafe and Restaurant for a hearty breakfast. The breakfast they serve is a delight! If you are not a fan of the typical ‘Irish breakfast’, then you should definitely try the best scones in Dublin. Be sure to ask them for whipped cream, and remember: slice the scone horizontally, not vertically. Then add butter, jam, and cream – in that order!

Then, head to the Guinness Storehouse, where you’ll learn about Ireland’s famous brew.

Take a leisurely walk through St Audoen’s Park and City Walls, a peaceful spot that’s rich in history.

Finish your first day with dinner at Darkey Kelly’s Bar & Restaurant, offering traditional Irish fare in a cosy atmosphere.

Day 2: Dublin’s Heritage and Spirits

Begin your second day with a delightful breakfast at The Bakehouse Bakery and Eatery

After topping up your energy with great food and coffee, start your private walking tour of (Nearly!) All of Dublin in 5 hours, which includes a visit to the iconic Book of Kells.

Later, discover the rich history of Irish whiskey at the Irish Whiskey Museum

Wrap up your day in Dublin with dinner at the Old Mill Restaurant, known for its welcoming vibe and delicious meals. Or try Rosa Madre for great seafood and Italian cuisine.

Day 3: Culture and Crafts

Kick off your day at the historic Bewley’s Cafe, which has been serving award-winning coffee and fresh baked goods for almost 100 years.

How about getting an original souvenir? Consider crafting a unique silver ring as a memorable souvenir for yourself at Silver Works or if you fancy just getting a view of it, ask us about our Crafts & Design Tour of Dublin.

The Dublin Tour Guide team also recommends visiting Dublin Castle to explore the city’s past

For dinner, head to The Brazen Head, Dublin’s oldest pub, dating back to 1198. It’s the perfect spot to end your day with some local flavour.

Day 4: Museums and Memories

Start your final day in a cosy atmosphere at Synge & Byrne Café. Explore the National Museum of Ireland, which has four fascinating departments that suit various interests.

Spend some time shopping for souvenirs on Grafton Street, and stop by Aunty Nellie’s Sweet Shop for a sweet treat you deserve!

Conclude your adventure at Mulligans Pub on Poolbeg Street, a local favourite.
